Gillette Castle State Park

Gillette Castle State Park is a beautiful place.
With A castle.
Overlooking the Connecticut River.
What’s NOT to love??
The drive in to the park is simply beautiful, especially in fall.
There is a pond with a stone bridge, grills, picnic tables, walking trails and nature galore.
There is a lot of history about these structures, and I encourage you to visit the official website for more information.
The park is open year round, until sunset, though the museum is not.
I have never visited the museum, as I always find the grounds to be plenty entertaining.
The first time I came here with my now-husband, I thought this was the place we should be married.
It was summertime,
and the trees were full and green and blooming.
There were white blossoms everywhere,
and it felt like another realm!
It’s absolutely worth the drive, however long!
There are bathrooms in the main parking lot, and the walkways are paved and generally fine for strollers and such.

That feeling when you thought you were transported to medieval Europe…
